Did you know that 2nd of May this year was World Password Day?
Security researcher Mark Burnett first encouraged people to have a “password day,” where they update important passwords in his 2005 book Perfect Passwords.
Inspired by his idea, Intel Security took the initiative to declare the first Thursday in May World Password Day in May 2013.
How to observe
Celebrate World Password Day by visiting PasswordDay.org and taking the #WorldPasswordDay pledge, sharing a password tip on social media, changing an old password to a long, strong one or by turning on two-factor authentication for your important accounts.
Sophos Security made a short video here to catch your attention on what passwords made it to the top 100k breached passwords.
As they suggest
There are 3 simple recommendations to protect your accounts:
1. Pick proper passwords
2. Use a password manager (Our favourite is Lastpass)
3. Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) where possible
