Hacker Legend Kevin Mitnick, a Felon Turned Security Expert, Dies at 59
Kevin Mitnick, a hacker pioneer who dialed into a scheme in the 1980s and 1990s that tricked phone company employees to help him steal software and services, earning him fame – and landing him on the FBI’s Most Wanted List – has died at the age of 59.
Mitnick died last week after a 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer, Stu Sjouwerman, CEO of security training firm KnowBe4, told the Associated Press. Mitnick was chief hacking officer at the firm, using his skills to help companies thwart hackers.

Amid the confusion of X, Twitter’s sudden rebrand, Meta is looking to capitalise on a new wave of Twitter cast-offs who are keen to try out something new, with some new features for Threads that will help to bring it much closer to the traditional Twitter experience.
The biggest addition is a new ‘Following’ feed, in addition to the main ‘For you’ stream of recommended and following content, which will now enable Threads users to only see content from the profiles that they’ve chosen to follow in the app.

Cryptocurrency project Worldcoin says it wants to provide a universal basic income (UBI) to every human being in response to the expected labour upheaval caused by artificial intelligence, but first you have to prove you’re human by letting the company scan your eyeballs using its iris scanner, the Orb.
