DoorDash Hit With $2m Fine For Breaching Spam Laws

Online food delivery service DoorDash has been slapped with a $2 million fine for breaching spam rules.

An investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found DoorDash sent more than 1 million texts and emails that breached spam regulations between February and October last year.

Cyber Attacks Wipe $76m From Latitude Results

Personal finance company Latitude Group (ASX: LFS) has reported a $98.2 million statutory loss after tax for the first half of 2023, with performance weighed down by a cyber incident in March that led to the theft of almost eight million driver’s licence numbers alongside millions of other private documents.

The result compares to a $30 million net profit after tax (NPAT) for the same period in 2022.

Burst SMS Slammed For Breaching SMS Anti-scam Rules

Burst SMS, has been found to have breached SMS anti-scam rules by allowing scammers to send messages that impersonated Australian brands.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) said its investigation found Burst SMS offered free trials to send up to 10 messages a day without undertaking the required checks, enabling scammers to send 108 messages

Almost 0% of Tech Workers Are Indigenous
Bolstering the number of Indigenous

Australians entering the tech industry would improve diversity measures and alleviate the talent shortage at the same time.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up close to 0 per cent of the tech industry.
In parallel, it’s estimated that STEM professionals will make up 75 per cent of the Australian workforce by 2025.

The push comes from Indigitek, which aims to increase the participation and success of Indigenous people in the tech community.
